About the team What you'll do Stripe's mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. We build the most powerful and flexible tools for running an internet business. Our tax team works with Stripes across the company to develop an efficient tax structure as our international business scales and expands into new markets. This role focuses on Stripe Managed Payments (SMP), our Merchant of Record (MoR) product, which simplifies global selling by handling tax, fraud, and compliance on behalf of our users. We're looking for a seasoned tax professional to navigate the complexities of shifting tax liability and help lead this effort. You'll be based in the US and report to the Indirect Tax advisory lead. Responsibilities • Be an indirect tax subject matter expert (global VAT/GST) for our Merchant of Record product, specifically managing the complexity of shifting tax liability via marketplace and agency rules • Support Stripe's expansion into new international markets, ensuring SMP remains compliant with varying global tax regulations • Participate in policy matters affecting indirect taxes internationally • Collaborate with the international indirect tax compliance team and the international accounting teams on VAT/GST compliance, assisting with the ongoing enhancement of the indirect tax compliance processes • Support management of indirect tax audits and other indirect tax matters involving tax authorities internationally • Work with other tax
